As in many of the best things in life, I’ve come late to The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon. It is a deep delight to read this thousand-year-old collection of lists, observations of nature, and catty asides from this member of the Japanese court. In homage, because it’s been so hectic lately, I’m creating my own list using one of her categories.
